How Did you start CrossFit?
In 2011 my wife actually started going to a CrossFit box that opened up near our house, and she kept bugging me to try it out after she had joined. I had been working in the health & fitness industry for several years and I wasn’t too sure about this CrossFit method. In fact, I thought it was crazy! I had a former co-worker at the time who was really into it and I thought he looked ridiculous when I saw him working out one day. I asked what he was doing, and he replied “CrossFit”… I later found out that his wife was a perennial CrossFit games competitor. Long story short, I finally gave in to my wife’s request to try a free class, and the rest is history! I’ve been coaching and competing in CrossFit ever since.
What Inspired you to become a coach?
As a lifelong athlete and someone who had already been working in the fitness industry for a number of years, coaching CrossFit seemed like a good fit. Although, initially I was more motivated by the idea of having a free membership, but once I started coaching more and getting more involved in the community, I noticed that CrossFit was something different than just a workout regiment. I loved the people, the camaraderie and the process of watching people progress. The more I coached, the more I loved it. I truly enjoy serving others, and helping people become better through fitness, and feel that coaching and now owning a facility is part of my life’s purpose. I’d like to think that it shows through my personality and my genuine enthusiasm to help and inspire everyone that I meet.
What is your favorite CrossFit Workout?
I usually love anything with Snatches but if I had to pick a benchmark, I’d say “Diane” its fast and furious, and showcases strength and skill.
